Girl Scout State Gold Award Ceremony

This weekend I had the privilege of attending the State Wide Gold Award Ceremony. I was there on behalf of the Honor Guard of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, to present the colors, not to receive my Gold Award. I was very inspired to hear what all those girls did to receive their Gold Award. Whether they were helping the hungry, homeless or underprivileged. I really liked how all the girls from all over Texas gathered to celebrate giving back to their community. I really am looking forward to earning my Silver Award on the way to my Gold Award. I believe that all of the girls there have very much gone far out of their way to help others. I know these girls will continue to represent Girl Scouts in a positive way, and to make a positive impact on their communities. I believe they will do great things going forward.

Flag Day 2015

  • One of our ways we give back to our community is by helping the Rotary Club post flags all over our town. Last year we held our own flag education class on flag day with a special flag retirement ceremony to close it out.
  • This year our Troop has decided to attend a rather large flag retirement ceremony in Dallas, this event is open to the public and all Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are invited to attend in their uniforms and help with the ceremony.
  • Here are the details -
  • Flag Pole Hill Park at 1:00 pm
  • E. Northwest Hwy at Buckner

Celebrate Flag Day this June 14th by attending a public flag retirement ceremony. Bring any old worn flags (national or state) to the ceremony for retirement in a dignified and respectful manner.

Sponsored by http://www.Oldwornflag.com, the Dallas Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and the East Fork-Trinity Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution with several other community organizations in attendance. The Lone Star Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America will present a live rifle volley.

Join your neighbors as we commemorate the adoption of the flag of the United States and properly retire old, worn flags that are no longer suitable to be displayed.

  • Hope to see you there!

About us

An Introduction to our Troop.

Hello. We are Girl Scout Troop 878 of Waxahachie, Texas.

We are a multi-level troop of Juniors and Cadettes. We are making this blog to post and share what we learn as a Girl Scout Troop and all the fun we have when we meet. We would like to share how much fun we have as a Girl Scout Troop to show other girls how much fun it is to be Girl Scout.
Our troop has done many exciting things together, including going on camping trips and attending parades. Also, we have completed many community service hours by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, setting out flags for the Rotary Club, picking up trash around our town, and building little libraries for the benefit of the children.
This year, our Girl Scout Troop sold a total of 4,552 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, which is the most our troop has ever sold. In fact, over the years, we have been selling more and more cookies. This year has been our best: we sold the most cookies with the least amount of Girl Scouts! Not only that, we had to freeze horribly in the frigid weather at every booth sale this year. Brookshire's was even kind enough to let us sell our cookies inside their store one day because it was so cold and windy! (Thank you very much Brookshire's! Your kindness hasn't and will never be forgotten!)
We want to help answer your Girl Scout questions, we are asking that you send us requests and we will be happy to get those questions/topics answered for you in our Girl Scout Blog.

Thanks,
C, L, and M

Here we are working on starting our blog!
